When
did you open the salon?
We opened June 2003.
The inspiration behind the name Salon H20?
Well, San Diego is really all about the water. It's all around
us. It is the one element that brings life and change to the
world. And really that's what our business is all about. Plus,
Thu (pronounced 'two') is the one who is in the center of
the whole enterprise, just like the 2 in H20. She really holds
the place together and defines the salon's atmosphere with
her unique style and attitude. So H2O is a symbol that just
seemed to fit.
Salon's specialty?
We do everything. We're a Paul Mitchell Platinum Salon which
means we get the most advanced education offered, ranging
from cutting edge cuts to our artistic award-winning Block
Coloring Techniques. This ensures our stylists have all the
creative tools to give our clients the style they are looking
for.
What makes Salon H20 unique? (Besides having the hottest
stylist)
Haha. You'll need to walk in and see for yourself. I don't
think you will see anything quite like it in San Diego. It
has an urban loft feel, like something you might find in New
York or San Francisco. But the whole experience is still relaxed
and laid back SoCal.
You are having a fashion show. Tell us about it:
"Like a Virgin" will be on April 24th @Aubergine
in Downtown SD. We are going with an 80's influence. Big hair
with a flair is what is hot right now. I think this will be
a great way to introduce ourselves and let the crowd see what
we are made of. So come by and check it out. You'll be blown
away with wild and crazy hair and the couture made by Jimena
Valero which is quite incredible.
Are you planning to have more events in the future?
Yes, we definitely will. We hope to have future shows in the
salon. The whole design of the salon's space was with the
idea to be able to utilize it for activities other than just
doing hair. We plan on hosting various artistic activities
from readings to film. So keep your eyes open.
